History of The Cramerton Historical Society Musuem

“My friend, Ted Reece—resident of Cramerton for his lifetime of 94 years—asked me to help him and the town’s Artifacts Committee in preparing for the 2015 Cramerton Centennial Celebration. I was happy to do so, and Ted, knowing my skills as a designer and a retired architect, requested that I design a ‘one-hundred year timeline display’ for Cramerton. Ted assisted me with the research for the timeline and with securing the appropriate artifacts to be included in the centennial display.

In 2016, once the Centennial Celebration was concluded, Jeff Ramsey, who had served as Chairman of the Centennial Committee, engaged a small group of interested individuals to start the Cramerton Historical Society, with Jeff serving as our first President. In 2018, I was elected President, which proved to be an exciting year for our group. Shortly after, in 2019, the Town of Cramerton renovated the community building and provided space for the Cramerton Historical History Museum on the lower level. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to design the museum layout and to help build or acquire many of the display cases.

I now proudly serve as the Director of the Museum, a role within CHS that allows me to continue the important work of artifact preservation and display. Our newest display is the Tommy Gun replica display case, which also includes a first edition copy of one of Stuart W. Cramer’s books.

We have a grand vision for our museum, including future displays and events. We welcome you to join us in this worthwhile and important endeavor, including participation in our many lectures and activities that are planned throughout the year.”
