2023 Senior Citizens Lunch

On June 27, 2023, the Cramerton Historical Society hosted their annual Cramerton Senior Citizen Luncheon, complete with a delicious barbeque lunch and a packed program. Over 50 participants joined us for this wonderful time to reconnect and to share memories of Cramerton.

Art Shoemaker shared his amazing baseball collection with the group, including a little insight into how this 40-year collection got started, and the many items that are featured in this display, which will remain on loan to the museum for several weeks. This particular part of Art’s massive collection features New York Yankee's’ memorabilia.

It was a packed house for lunch! Many thanks to all the volunteers who prepared and served the amazing food!

Lifelong Cramerton resident Frank Nixon serves as one of the leaders of this wonderful Senior Citizens’ group, and led the business meeting following the program.

Phil and Linda Humphries, Frank Nixon, Jerry Dellinger and Cramerton Historical Society President Doug Glenn catch up over barbeque and banana pudding!

Here, members of the Senior Citizens’ group as well as Cramerton Historical Society enjoy lunch with “The Boys of Summer” collection featured in the background.

After lunch had concluded, the program continued with a presentation by Dixie Abernathy (V.P. of the Cramerton Historical Society) and Warren Cramer (member of the Cramerton Historical Society and grandson of town founder, Stuart W. Cramer). Dixie and Warren shared insights and information regarding the literary project they are collaborating on which is all about the family of Stuart W. Cramer. Volume I is due to be published in 2023/2024 and includes Cramer ancestors during the years 1778 - 1888, with the last chapter in Volume I featuring Stuart W. Cramer’s graduation from The Naval Academy in 1888! The books, which Dixie and Warren envision to be a trilogy, will be historical fiction and will include many anecdotal stories and accounts, along with historical narrative.

Jack and Alice Brown, Terry and Jane Ellington, Karen and Rhett Cozart, Minerva Hardy, Graham Bell, and so many others (more than can be named!) attended the event. All members of the Senior Citizens group are heartily invited to join Cramerton Historical Society! We love collaborating with such an amazing group! See you next time!
