LaDonna Boyer

LaDonna Boyer was born and raised in North Carolina and graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a BA degree in International Studies and a concentration in Latin American Studies. She is bilingual having lived for 10 years in Central and South America teaching in American Schools through the US State Department. Upon returning to the USA, she moved to Belmont, North Carolina, where she taught for Washington Educational Research Associates helping Oil Petroleum countries (OPEC) prepare, train, and improve foreign students’ command of English for university education in the USA. She moved to Cramerton in 2008 because of the small-town atmosphere that reminded her of where she grew up. Getting involved with the Cramerton Historical Society allowed her to get acquainted with the town’s history and meet people native to Cramerton. Being a history buff, LaDonna discovered there was a wealth of history connected to the town so joining the CHS gave her the chance to learn firsthand about Cramerton’s background. Recording this history and saving artifacts connecting the past with the present is important to her. With her appreciation of history, the CHS project of creating and opening a museum so that younger generations could enjoy and appreciate the town’s history was a purpose worth joining.
