Dixie Abernathy is a former K-12 educator, a current Professor of Education at Queens University of Charlotte, and a thirty-year resident of Cramerton. Having served as a former Town of Cramerton Commissioner, Dixie was first introduced to the great work of CHS as the historical museum was being imagined and realized. During the 2022-2023 school year, Dixie worked with other CHS members to design a 4th-grade field trip curriculum unique to the Cramerton Museum. During that inaugural year, over 400 4th graders visited the CHS historical museum and engaged with CHS volunteers in this amazing experience. Dixie was recognized for these efforts with the 2022 Ted Reece Spirit Award.
